From Facebook to newspapers, there’s only one story everywhere – Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma just got married; they looked super adorable, and their wedding was nothing but heavenly. People are gushing over the couple getting together because, who doesn’t love a happy ending for a real-life love story? But, besides all the romance, the subject of discussion is the look and feel of the wedding and the associated ceremonies. Anushka’s Wedding and Mehendi Outfits While the couple remained hush-hush about the planning, celebration and everything else, photos of the wedding, engagement, mehendi, etc. have started taking the internet by a storm now. We have seen that for the wedding, Anushka went with soft blush tones. It looked like a white Disney wedding had received specks of colours for a Punjabi touch. For the mehendi, she had chosen a yellow-orange lehenga, with splashes of colours – all in matte. Yes, it seems that for the most part, Anushka chose lehengas in muted colours and matte fabrics. Anushka’s Engagement Saree LookFor her engagement, she had chosen something absolutely different. She wore a stunning velvet saree in a dark hue. Anushka’s opulent velvet saree in “gulkand burgundy” shade had light embellishments, along with miniature pearls, as well as hand-embroidered marori and zardosi works. Now, who else could have created such a delicate piece, other than Sabyasachi Mukherjee? It was all shimmery and gorgeous, and had the designer’s signature aesthetic reflected all over it. Anushka teamed the saree with a sleeveless blouse with a plunging neckline, giving the outfit a contemporary twist. She wore a choker created by the label, made with uncut diamonds and pearls, pairing it with matching ear-pieces, which brought the look together. Her hair was held up in a sleek bun with a centre-parting, alongside maroon flowers adorning the bun. Altogether, her look was not entirely ethnic. It had the right balance of ‘traditional and ‘contemporary’, something that any modern woman would to love. Plus, with Virat Kohli wearing a dark blue suit by her side, Virushka together had the whole “East meets West” thing going on! Can you pull off the Anushka's Engagement look?Of course you can! Whether you go for sarees online shopping or walk into a designer boutique, the options are many. You can pick a trendy half-and-half velvet saree, instead of one that has the same fabric all through the length. There are simple ones to choose from, as well as drapes with embellishments, embroideries, net or lace, etc. The sarees online come at much more affordable prices than the designer collections. Remember to add texture, and minimalistic elements that will balance the grandiose of velvet.
